I have been working in the area of Early Years Care and Education for many years first in the UK and now here in Perth Western Australia. I am passionate about and committed to providing quality care and education for all children.

I design and write a broad range of training programmes and modules for services in the early years education and care sector. I also work with RUCSN Resource Unit for Children with Special Needs here in Perth.

The Hello Book and the Welcome Book, two new innovative resources for the early years . Both books are full colour and have laminated covers for durability and strength. The overarching goals while designing both books were, to fully include the child in the transition process and lower their stress and anxiety levels. With lower anxiety levels children are more able to participate in meaningful play, develop relationships with others and expand their social and emotional development.

Both books to assist in creating a more seamless transition with a strong sense of connection from home to the service and from the service to the home. It's crucial that new environments reflect positive elements of a child's life, their family, culture and community. Thus ensuring a child feels understood and valued giving them a sense of acceptance and belonging.

By sharing significant, positive information and images in the "Hello" book and the "Welcome" book throughout the transition period it allows a greater sense of understanding to develop between all those involved. Having a greater sense of understanding enables each of us to see similarities as well as differences in each other and be more accepting of diversity.
